Two round barrows at Moorland Gate. Mound a) nearest to the road 83 feet (25.3 metres) diameter by 7 feet (2.13 metres) high with steep sides and a flat top 36 feet (10.97 metres) across which has been dug into in antiquity. Other details: Mound A.

One of two bowl barrows south-east of Moorland Gate. Barrow A is 30 metres diameter by 1.6 metres high with a slight depression in the centre. Other details: Plan.

Mound unploughed and under gorse. Slight plough damage on field side. 26 metres north to south and 21 metres east to west, height 1.5m.There is a 0.45 metre depression in centre but no recent disturbance. Another mound was observed immediately adjacent.

One of 2 round barrows forming part of a larger group which occupies this impressive upland ridgeway between the two major river systems. This barrow barrow survives as a circular mound with a diameter of 24 metres standing up to 1.5 metres high.

Department of Environment, 1996, Two Bowl Barrows at Moorland Gate (Schedule Document). SDV344843.

Two bowl barrows at Moorland Gate. This monument includes two bowl barrows aligned north-west to south-east on an exposed hilltop. They form part of a larger group occupying the ridge between the River Torridge to the west and the River Taw to the east. This northern barrow survives as a circular mound 24 metres in diameter and up to 1.5 metres high. A slight hollow in the centre may represent the site of an early part excavation or robbing. The surrounding ditch survives as a buried feature circa 3.5 metres wide.
