Summary

Remains of a post Medieval leat which supplied water from the head of Hooten Wheals Stream to the Henroost Openwork. An archaeological field survey in 1996 found the leat dry and silted. Although visible over its entire course, the leat was very shallow and was becoming overwhelmed by the grassy vegetation on the hillside. Its average depth was 0.3 metre.

(10/01/1996) A leat channel, now dry and silted, which once conveyed water from the head of Hooten Wheals Stream at SX 65357031 to the Henroost openwork at SX 65057094 (SX 67 SE 179). The channel, although visible over its entire course is very shallow and is becoming overwhelmed by the grassy vegetation on the hillside. Its average depth is 0.3m.
