Full description

McCrone, P., 1985, An Archaeological Survey of Some Dartmoor Woodlands, 17, KW29 (Report - Survey). SDV360479.

KW29 Dam - SX 7175 6655.
The stream runs in a 15m wide gully at this point. An elongated mound of stone lies across the bottom of the gully from the north edge to the north bank of the stream. This mound is slightly curving, 10 metres long and between 2 and 3 metres thick. It may originally have extended across the stream's course but has since eroded. This could be the remains of a dam across the stream but the purpose of a dam at this point is unclear as there do not appear to be any activities nearby or any sign of leats carrying water from it.
