A number of other platforms exist in King's Wood of varying sizes and usually on the steeper slopes of the wood. Some of these may be natural, particularly the smaller ones. Where these platforms are oval or sub-rectangular the long axis lies along the contour. The larger platforms may be charcoal hearths.
Platform - SX 7117 6631
Platform measures 3m by 5m. Set into the surface of this platform is a brick built box 0.85m by 0.5m by 0.3m deep (internally). This was covered over by slate slabs. The bottom is tiled with red clay tiles. The bricks are probably of Bovey Basin clay and are stamped CWP.
An outlet pipe of 4 inches glazed earthenware leads from the south wall, appearing from the slope approximately 10m to the south.
