Summary

Slotted gatepost at Cantrell Farm, Ugborough standing in the lane at the present gated entrance to the garden of Cantrell farmhouse. Stone stands just over 1 meter high and has three large slots cut into it with three smaller set between them.

Cantrell Farm. A slotted gate post stands in the lane at the present gated entrance to the garden of Cantrell farmhouse. The stone is approximately 1.1 meters high above ground; the width of the slotted side is approximately 0.4 meters at the base tapering to approximately 0.3 meters at the top; the width of the adjacent side is approximately 0.3 meters at the base and approximately 0.2 meters at the top, which has been damaged.
There are three slots 0.13 meters by 0.05 meters and up to 0.05 meters deep, with a fourth slot probably of the same dimensions partly below ground level. In between these slots there are three smaller ones with less well-defined edges.
