Name:Pillow mound in Willings Walls Warren

Summary

One of a row of at least a dozen, arranged along the banks of Spanish Lake. Warren dates to the early 19th century and was worked with Hentor Warren until the 1930s. Mound measures 14.9 metres by 5.3 metres by 0.8 metres high.

Pillow mound E at SX58186457. Measures 14.9 metres by 5.3 metres by 0.8 metres high. The mound is retained by a drystone revetment which is visible in places and survives elsewhere as a buried feature. The surrounding ditch is 2 metres wide and 0.1 metres deep. A 0.9 metre wide and 0.3 metres wide gully curving around the south and east sides of the mound may represent an animal run.

One of a series of pillow mounds on the right bank of Spanish Lake. Sub-rectangular earthen mound surrounded by a ditch, 1 metre wide and 0.3 metres deep. Traces of the stone foundation are visible around the sides. Dimensions 15.5 metres by 6.5 metres by 0.75 metres high.
