Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

Depicted on the Tithe Map as Venton. Unclear whether there are two separate farms from the map itself. The Apportionment for 'Higher Venton' lists Field Number 507 as 'House Yard & C'. The Apportionment for 'Lower Venton' lists Field Number 512 as 'House & Garden'.

Venton is Fenton in the Assizes of 1249. The name can be divided into two elements fenn, tun, meaning 'farm in the marshy spot'.
