In the river at this point there is a large boulder with a small circular hole in it; and another slightly smaller boulder with a square hole in it.

Marchand, J., 2005, Archaeology within Mel Tor Wood, 13 (Report - Survey). SDV364979.

The leat comes off the river at Hannaford Sickles and continues through to Lower Hannaford Farm. The leat survives as a dry channel 0.5m wide and to a depth of 1.5m.
The leat is important in a local context. The bank and channel should be kept free of saplings and scrub vegetation. The feature should be excluded from areas of new planting.
