Full description
Ordnance Survey, 1880s, Ordnance Survey (Cartographic). SDV848.
'Rough Grey Pond' shown on OS 25" (1880s & 1906) maps as a long triangular feature c130m long x up to c24m wide to the southeast of 'Southlands' farm. Other details: Also on OS 25" (1906) map.

Fishponds at Rough Grey Bottom. Extensive system of fishponds belonging to Dunkeswell Abbey (see PRN 1890) probably existed here. They have not been properly surveyed, one pond reclaimed and re-established at south end. Other details: Plan.

There are now 4 ponds here; as shown on OS 1:10,000 (1991) with a further new pond to the north. There has probably been considerable landscaping in recent years to the north of Fishponds House. This site has still not been properly surveyed. Other details: Visited.
