Full description
Chapman, G. M., 1983, Dalwood, A Short History of an East Devon Village, 18 (Monograph). SDV351908.
The court rolls of 1462-63 suggest that there may have been a building of some importance near to the church. The entry in the rolls calls the building "the court of the lord" and goes on to mention a staircase which indicates an upper storey and payments made to various tradesmen. According to local information there is an old tradition that the Tuckers Arms was originally built as a lodge for the men who were building the church, and Chapman suggests that Tuckers Arms could have been the old court house although he stresses this is supposition.
