The first mention of a church house at Dalwood is in the court rolls of 1534-35, which states that the church house was recently erected on the lord's waste outside the cemetery. In the rolls of 1573-74 is an entry of 4 pence rent, paid by the warden of the house to the court. Difficult to locate accurately where the church house stood possibly it occupied the same site as the village hall does today. How long it survived is unknown. A deed of 1777 records the leasing to Joel Gosling of a cottage and garden by the churchwardens and overseers of the poor, this could be referring to the church house. Certainly the church owned a fair amount of land at this time in the parish.
