Full description

Griffith, F. M., Untitled Source (Report - Survey). SDV677.

Vis=6/5/1987 (griffith). The present farmhouse and buildings at combe are 19th century in external appearance. The back wall of the farmhouse is however cob, and beams with stepped stops in the kitchen suggest an earlier core.

BASED ON ORAL INF FROM MR SAMUELS OF COMBE, Untitled Source (Report - Survey). SDV87538.

Vis=excavations in the 1970's at the northern end of the house where it is terraced into the hill produced a large volume of 13th-19th century ceramics including both north devon and donyatt fabrics as well as upcountry post-medieval wares and limited rhineland imports (based on oral inf from mr samuels of combe).
