Summary

Curvilinear earthwork ditches, visible on aerial photographs taken in the 1980s and on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, are interpreted as post-medieval or 19th century catchmeadow leats in a plot named Waterleats in the Tithe apportionment. They seem to have fallen out of use by the late-19th century.

Three curvilinear earthwork ditches, less than 1 metre wide, are visible on aerial photographs taken in the 1980s and on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. They are aligned approximately along the contour, dropping less than 5 metres across a 200 metre length, and are tentatively interpreted as the remains of former catchmeadow leats of post-medieval or 19th century origin. They seem to have taken water from the watercourse to the south, and possibly also from a field boundary ditch to the west. The field name of Waterleats in the Tithe Apportionment indicates that they were, or had recently, still been in use, but they are not depicted on the available historic mapping and so had probably fallen out of use by the late-19th century.
