Cable House in Compass Cove. In 1860 a submarine cable was laid from Compass Cove to Guernsey, wooden markers in the cliff mark the line.

Freeman, R., 1992, Cable House, Compass Cove (Worksheet). SDV341478.

The cable was first laid from Jersey in 1877 and in 1940 the small cottage was converted to a pill box. The feature guarded one end of a submarine cable originally connecting Jersey then Trans-Atlantic communications. The cable went underground to a repeater station in a converted coach house. In 1992 the site was overgrown although the foundations may survive.
