Full description
National Trust, 1984, Clovelly and East Titchberry (Report - Survey). SDV337536.
East of Brownsham are a series of fields which appear to be of Medieval origin, having a degree of regularity of layout and size indicative of manorial management. The modern hedges each follow a characteristic of medieval strip fields, the 'reversed S' form seeming to fossilize the arrangements of groups of medieval strips arranged in blocks, or furlongs, combined on enclosure to form larger units.
