Full description

Department of Environment, 1985, West Down, 118 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV340802.

Outbuildings of Lower Aylescott farmhouse appear to be 17th century, mainly exposed rubble and cob with partly slate, partly corrugated iron roof. Three room plan, with exact former use uncertain, but may have formed detached kitchen and dairy block with accommodation over. Adjoining the rear of the farmhouse, the dairy and kitchen with lean-to roof, and projecting gabled stair turret between, extend along nearly the whole length of main range. Part of the kitchen is lofted over and a gallery extends at right angles to the main range, forming a 3-sided rear courtyard. Large axial stack with bread oven. For full details see list.
