Summary

The fabric of the lych gate is possibly 17th century but was rebuilt in the 19th century. It has stone rubble walls supporting a cruciform gabled slate roof. There is an inscribed stone plaque on the bargeboards to the front dated 1677. In front of the gate is a flight of pebbled stone steps.

Lych Gate to Church of St. Peter. Possibly C17 fabric, rebuilt in C19. Stone rubble walls supporting cruciform gabled slate roof. Decorative bargeboards to front gable incorporating stone plaque inscribed March 13 1677/George Westcott Rector/Thomas Tucker, John Reed, Churchwardens. Chamfered timber tie-beams. Cross-frame has bar-stopped chamfered uprights. Timber gates, panelled at the base and pierced with trefoils, the upper part cross-framed to form 9 open square panels to each gate. Flight of pebbled stone steps in front.
