Walls, S. + Wapshott, E. + Balmond, F., 2018, Land Adjacent to Filleigh Village Hall, Filleigh, North Devon, Devon. Results of a Historical Visual Impact Assessment, 38 (Report - Assessment). SDV362928.

An historical visual impact assessment was carried on land adjacent to Filleigh Village Hall in order to assess the potential impact of a proposed housing development on the wider landscape and heritage assets within it. The site consists of a sub oval shaped area that forms part of a pasture field to the south of Barton Close and Paynes Cottages.
Paynes Cottages are a pair of late 18th or early 19th century, picturesque rustic, thatched cottages. They are amongst the oldest buildings in the village and are described as 'aesthetically pleasing'.
The proposed development will change the setting of the cottages, enclosing them to the south, but views to the north, south-east and east will not be affected. Overall the impact is considered to be slight.

Ordnance Survey, 2024, Mastermap 2024 (Cartographic). SDV365834.
