Early 20th century garden on site of 16th century gardens, c 2ha, with adjacent parkland. The ground at cadhay slopes down from west to east, towards the course of the river otter. Present gardens were laid out in early 20th century and further developed from 1934-35, on the site of 19th century farm buildings to the south of house, which were removed in 1911. Lawn flanked by two rows of irish yews. Two parallel yew hedges which are massive extend south for c50m enclosing herbaceous borders. Lawn with ha-ha beyond giving onto parkland. To the south are two ponds originally medieval fishponds. Area of these gardens corresponds to that of the earlier division of land round the house as shown on the 1809 1" os map (hhr).
