Summary
Sowden Reservoir, formerly known as Pickard's Down Reservoir, a covered reservoir on the north side of Sowden Lane. It was expanded in the second half of the twentieth century by the addition of a second reservoir immediately east of the original site.

Full description
Ordnance Survey, 1904 - 1906, Second Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch Map (Cartographic). SDV325644.
Pickard's Down Reservoir (Barnstaple Water Works Co.) marked, comprising a rectangular reservoir reached by a track off the north side of Sowden Lane. There is also a small building depicted just off the north-east corner of the reservoir.
