Jenkinson, T., 2005, Barnstaple to Exeter (Report - Survey). SDV323127.

Millestone off A377, on grass verge outside entrance to Overton House. Worn and caught by grass cutter. Part sunken difficult to decipher. Legend reads '3 Barum'. The milestone is one of a set of stones running from Barnstaple as far as Tollbar Cross, some 16 miles of road, which were placed in 1879 to commemmorate the closure of the town's Turnpike Trust. Each of the stones bears the medieval Latin name of BARUM and are simple tombstone shaped markers displaying a countdown of the miles away from the town.
