Summary

Hut Circle '1' at Watern Oke settlement is the northernmost hut of 1.7 metres by 1.3 metres with walls 1 metres wide by 0.7 metres high. A boundary wall leads north from this hut. The Dartmoor Exploration Committee excavation in 1905 revealed a bench/shelf in this hut.

Anderson, I. K., 1906, 11th Report of the Dartmoor Exploration Committee, 102, Hut 1 (Article in Serial). SDV337055.

One of a group of hut circles at Watern Oke. Hut 1; a small irregular hut with no apparent entrance; the bottom is concave and formed entirely of large slabs of stone. A stone projecting 18 inches was evidently intended as a shelf. At largest, hut measures 9 feet (east-west), 7 feet (north-south). Trace of a fragment of walling uphill in a north-east direction.

(1992) Hut circle of the simple plan and single orthostat type. The interior is oval in plan, 1.7m long, 1.3m wide and is defined by a 1m wide wall standing up to 0.7m high. The door faces east. A boundary wall leads north from the edge of this hut. Excavations by the Dartmoor Exploration Committee revealed a bench.
