Numbers 7-9 Lower Street, Chagford. Pair of houses, late 18th or early 19th century in date. Plastered granite stone rubble with large dressed quoins showing on the exposed left end; granite stack with granite ashlar chimney shaft; thatch roof.
Plan: pair of cottages built along the street facing north-west. Each cottage is a mirror plan of the other. Each is one room wide and two rooms deep and a central axial stack serves back-to-back fireplaces. Either end is an entrance lobby to the stairs. No. 7 is the right-hand cottage, No. 9 to the left. Two storeys. Exterior: overall 2-window front of 19th century casements with glazing bars flanked by plank doors. Roof is gable-ended.
