Summary

Barn is probably 17th century, re-roofed in the 20th century. Barn faces south into farmyard and contains opposing doors set a little right of centre onto threshing floor, the front one larger than the rear. The doorways seem to have been moved from the centre to accomodate threshing machinery in the 19th century.

Full description

Department of Environment, 1987, Chagford, 31 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV350463.

Barn approximately 15 metres north of Hole farmhouse. Threshing barn. Probably 17th century, re-roofed in the 20th century. Granite stone rubble including some fairly large blocks; corrugated iron roof (formerly thatch).
Plan and description: threshing barn facing south into farmyard of the farmhouse (qv). It contains opposing doors set a little right of centre onto threshing floor, the front one larger than the rear. The doorways seem to have been moved from the centre to accomodate threshing machinery in the 19th century. Roof is gable-ended.
Interior is open to the roof which was completely renewed in the 20th century.
