Full description

Exeter Museums Archaeological Field Unit, 1993, Dartmoor Clapper Bridge Survey, Providence Hill Bridge (Archive - Survey). SDV138745.

(Visited 11/1/1993) Providence Hill Bridge. One of two bridges over the river at this location. Railings in poor condition.

Road bridge over Blackaton Brook. C19. Granite. Small single span clapper bridge. The stream at this point runs through a small gully the sides of which are built up with roughly-shaped blocks of granite as vertical abutments. The stream is bridged by slabs of granite and either side slabs set at a slightly high level provide low coping either side of the road. C20 iron railings have since been set into these slabs.
