Full description

Poultry house approximately 10 metres east of Chapple Farmhouse. Poultry house. Probably late 18th - early 19th century. Granite stone rubble with massive dressed quoins; corrugated iron roof (formerly thatch).
Plan and description: poultry house built across the slope and facing south. It originally comprised a row of four pigsties each with a low front door with a feeding hatch alongside to right. Some of the openings have since been blocked. The outer two are divided off by stone crosswalls but the middle two are undivided. Continuous hayloft above with central loading hatch. Roof is gable-ended.
Interior has plain carpentry detail including a replacement 20th century roof.

The poultry house is one of a group of attractive listed buildings including Chapple Farmhouse (q.v) and West Chapple (q.v) which make up the hamlet of Chapple.
