Rockwood Cottage and Ashplants, Fingle Cottage. Two cottages, 17th century, probably 16th century core, both modernized in 20th century. Plastered cob on stone rubble footings; stone rubble stacks topped with 20th century brick; thatch roof.
Pair of two room cottages facing south and built across the hillslope. In fact the cottages result from the subdivision of a 4 room and through passage house. 20th century outshots to rear. Main block is two storeys. Overall irregular 5 window front of late 19th century and 20th century casements with glazing bars.
Only Rookwood Cottage was available for interior inspection. The hall has a large ashlar granite fireplace with side oven and soffit-chamfered oak lintel. Roof inaccessible. See DOE List for full details.
