Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

'Stone Cross (Remains of)' marked on 1880s-1890s 25 inch Ordnance Survey map to the north of 'Fatacott'.

1. Site of an ancient cross about 4 chains northwest of Fatacott.
2. Site visit 27th November1978. Nothing is known of this alleged cross site, the published position being within a small paddock in an isolated situation. There is no significant name on the Tithe Award.

The shaft of the cross was removed from its original position to the north of the now demolished farmhouse. It was in use as a lintel for the well sited just inside the farm gate and was visible until the demolition and construction of the cattle buildings.
