A warren is referred to in 'Holrood Parks' - probably Olderwood in 1655.
1840, Tithe Map (Cartographic). SDV339770.
Tithe map of 1840 shows a warren in the northern sector of the wood.
Everett, C., 1988, Olderwood Warren (Site Visit). SDV271674.
Warren in Olderwood Plantation containing at least 22 pillow mounds. There are three types of pillow mounds in the warren: substantial, large rectangular mounds 10.0 – 15.0 meters long and over 1.0 meter high, very small and degraded mounds mostly under 6.0 meters long and less than 1.0 meter high, and large but very low mounds 10.0 – 13.0 meters long and well under 1.0 meter high.
