Full description

Everett, C., 1988, Haytor Down (Worksheet). SDV304118.

Site visited in February 1988. Remains of a small building at the western extremity of the granite tramway system on Haytor Down. Circular stone built structure about 2 metres diameter, and 1 metre high. Probably the remains of a beehive shaped quarry workers' shelter.

An apparently solid stone structure without an entrance built close to the track at the further face of the quarry at the west end of the Emsworthy Rock ridge.

At the Emsworthy Rocks western quarry is a circular stone structure of 3.5 metres diameter by 0.9 metres high with one segment collapsed. This is possibly the base for a crane used for loading large blocks onto the tramway wagons.
