South Yeo Farm house built in the early 17th century possibly with earlier originsand a 19th century addition. Plastered stone rubble walls. Gable ended slate roof. Brick stack at either end and granite ashlar axial stack with moulded dripcourse and tapering cap. Plan: 3-room and through passage plan witn lower end to the right. Hall stack backs onto the passage. Unheated rear wing behind hall probably a later 17th century or early 18th century addition. In the 19th century an addition was made at the left-hand end of the house probably as a dairy or for some subsidiary purpose. Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 4-window front. The 2 left-hand windows on the first floor are early 19th century hornless 20-pane sashes. The right-hand windows on both floors are later 20th century 12-pane sashes. Later 20th century 2-light small-paned casements to left on ground floor. 19th century studded plank door to passage at right of centre under corrugated iron doorhood supported on 19th century carved wooden brackets. The lower addition at the left-hand end has a shuttered unglazed window on the first floor with a 20th century 2-light casement below and 19th century plank door to its right. Rear wing projects from centre of house with 19th century outshut to its right. Interior inaccessible at time of survey but likely to contain features of interest and possibly an early roof structure. Other details: LBS Number 93334.
