Full description

Clarke, K. M., 1919, The Baptismal Fonts of Devon. Part 6, 217-218 (Article in Serial). SDV56166.

Font in parish church. Cushion bowl of first type. The wider than average semicircular faces are adorned by a fleur-de-lis, 305mm high, defined by an incised outline. Each vertical face a lily or six-pointed star in low relief in an incised circle. The lily has a centre of three raised lobes. The bowl has been cut down and the edge finished with cement. No lining and no drain hole. The surface bears modern axe-dressing. The basin is square with the corners rounded. The bowl stands on a modern granite shaft, placed on a limestone plinth.
