Full description

Gerrard, S., 1990-2002, Monument Protection Programme. Archaeological Item Dataset., MPP 133453 (Report - Survey). SDV277946.

Site visited on 12th March 1993. This hut circle forms part of a cluster of Neolithic and Bronze Age settlement and ritual features including 5 enclosures, a large number of associated stone hut circles, 3 stone alignments and at least 22 cairns. It is located immediately west of an enclosure. Terraced into the hillslope and of the simple plan and earthwork walling type. Interior measures 4 metres in diameter and survives as a circular scoop defined on the south side by 4 large stones protruding through the turf.

Hut circle (11) with a 4 metre diameter is at the west end of the oaval Drizzlecombe Enclosure (D).

The sub-oval shaped enclosure contains one hut circle which could pre-date it. This hut which is linked to the wall 'perhaps forming a small annexe, is up to 7.2 metres in overall diameter with a tumbled wall now 2.0 metres thick, some upright facing slabs are visible. Its entrance is in the south-east side.
