Full description

English Heritage, 2010, Historic Houses Register, 16 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV154869.

The Dell. Cottage. Circa early 18th century with 19th century addition. Plastered cob walls. Thatch roof, gabled to right end, extending over leanto at left end. Projecting plastered rubble stack at right end with brick shaft.
Plan: originally 1 room plan heated by end stack, 19th century outshut added at left-hand end.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 2-window front of 20th century 1 and 2-light casements on 1st floor in small openings. Twentieth century bow window to right on ground floor. Twentieth century gabled glazed and timber porch at centre with 20th century 2-light casement to left. Early c20 thatched roof porch to left into outshut.
Interior: open fireplace with plain wooden lintel. This cottage forms part of an interesting hamlet of originally identical cottages.
