‘Sand Pit’ marked on Ordnance Survey 1890 map on eastern edge of Clayhidon Turbary. Shown as ‘Old Sand Pit’ by 1906. During field visit feature seen to survive in woodland as excavated area circa 20 metres diameter by circa 4 metres maximum depth. Site is overgrown with trees.
