Name:Hut circle 22, Watern Oke settlement

Summary

One of a group of about 94 hut circles at watern oak. Hut 22; internal diam 3m. Small with entrance on east with a double sheltering wall. A large stone opposite the entrance showed clearly where the fireplace was (anderson). Vis=estimated -/-/1993 (gerrard) hut circle terraced into the hillslope. Straight porch plan and single orthostat walling bank type. Interior measures 2.5m in diameter and is defined by a 1.3m wide wall standing up to 1m high. Doorway faces se and to this is attached a 2m long straight porch. A boundary wall leads s from the s edge of this structure. Excavations carried out by the dartmoor exploration committee in 1905 revealed a fire-place (mpp).
