Full description

Anderson, I. K., 1906, 11th Report of the Dartmoor Exploration Committee, 106, hut 24 (Article in Serial). SDV337055.

One of a group of about 94 hut circles at Watern Oke. Hut 24; very nicely constructed but not circular. Entrance just south of east. Cooking and rubbing stones found and the fireplace indicated; also pottery with marking of double lines, and flint.

(1993) Hut circle terraced into the hillslope. Simple plan and coursed stone walls type. Interior measures 3m in diameter and is defined by a 1.5m wide walls standing up to 0.9m high. Doorway, defined by a single upright granite slab, faces s. Excavations by the Dartmoor Exploration Committee in 1905 revealed a fireplace, pottery and flint.
