Name:Hut circle 38, Watern Oke settlement

Summary

One of a group of about 94 hut circles at watern oak. Hut 38 diam 4.57m; rough made with large stones, no entrance, built under the shelter of rocks or steep clitter. About 60 cooking stones and some pottery were found. Vis=29/9/1986 (robinson) fmw visit. Vis=estimated -/-/1992 (gerrard) hut circle terraced into the hillslope. Simple plan and single orthostat type. The interior measures 4.3m in diameter and is defined by a 1.5m wide wall standing up to 1.1m high. The doorway faces s and is partially blocked. Excavations by the exploration committee in 1905 recovered about five dozen cooking stones and some pottery (mpp).
