Full description

Visit in around 1968. Number 56. Retains its gallery - the back block is now Number 1, Atherton Lane.

Dated 16/03/1978. Later 16th century or early 17th century merchant's house of the "deux corps de batiments" type. Retains its gallery. The former back block is now Number 1 Atherton Lane. Rebuilt early 19th century extending over Atherton Lane at first floor level. 3 storeys. 2 windows. Welsh slate roof with red brick stacks. Retains masonry party wall corbelled at first floor level for former jetty. Plastered timber framed front with first floor jetty. First and second floor with architraved sash windows with glazing bars. Modern ground floor shop window and doorway. Former architraved house doorway converted for use as window.
