Full description

Department of Environment, 1978, Totnes, 38 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV342722.

Dated 16/07/1978. Number 62, Fore Street. Later 16th century or early 17th century merchants house, altered. An example of pantin's right-angled house type with broad plan, and a small version of "la maison a deux corps de batiments". Early 19th century front. 2 storeys and attic. 1 window. Welsh slate roof with old masonry stack with red brick patching. Gabled attic with moulded bargeboard and bracketed jetty. Timber-framed front with plaster finish. Architraved sash windows with glazing bars; first floor window with 2 lights. Modern shopfront. Passage doorway at west end with old board and batten door with wrought iron pegs, and decorative hinges.
