Full description

Department of Environment, 1978, Totnes, 45 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV342722.

Number 3, High Street, (North side). Circa 1782. 3 storeys and dormer. 3 windows. Welsh slate mansard roof with stone ridge stack. Rendered front. Modillion eaves cornice. Architraved, flush framed sash windows with glazing bars. Altered earlier 19th century shopfront with fluted pilasters. At east end, ground floor sash windows with side lights and glazing bars (citing M. Laithwaite).


Keystone, 1998, 3 High Street, Totnes, Devon (Report - Survey). SDV350658.

Visit in 1995. Alteration of basement and ground floor for further commercial use.

Basement; internal partitions and staircase removed; floor lowered by 200 millimetres. New staircase.

Ground floor; east screen of former cross passage removed.

Upper floors; mainly retain Georgian features.
