Full description

Number 56 High Street (south side). Early 19th century refronting of older building. The Devon and Cornwall Bank in 1863. Forms a pair with Number 54. Two and a half storeys. One window. Welsh slate roof. Gabled, timber-framed, plastered front. First and second floors with architraved sash windows with sidelights and glazing bars. Ground floor loggia over pavement carried on wooden Doric columns. Modern shopfront (citing M. Laithwaite).
