Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

Building is depicted on the Tithe Map; 149 'House and Garden'. The building is quite a large roughly L-shaped structure, formed of two joined rectangular structures.

By the later 19th century, the house appears to have been reduced in size and a Methodist Chapel constructed just to the north.

Chapel Cottage (formerly listed as Thatchways). Cottage. Probably 18th century with 19th century wing at front. Rendered granite rubble walls with thatched roof gabled to right. Half-hipped to left and wing in front.
Originally probably two room plan with wing providing extra room on front of left room forming L-shaped plan. Two storeys, one window front to main block and one window to front of wing. Two- and three-light early 20th century casements with glazing bars smaller older casement on first floor immediately to right of wing lean-to porch in angle with wing has 20th century plank door.
Interior not inspected. Included for group value.

Cottage. Probably C18 with C19 wing at front. Rendered granite rubble walls with thatched roof gabled to right. 1-hipped to left and wing in front.
