Name:Hut circle 60, Watern Oke settlement

Summary

One of a settlement at watern oak. Hut 60; rather irregular or oval with longer diameter running east to west. No entrance, burnt stones at east showing fireplace. Hut 61; diam 2.44m. A circular pit formed of large stones with traces of fire all over the floor. Some rubbers, several cooking stones, and a piece of flint were found. Vis=-/-/1992 (gerrard) hut circle terraced into the hillslope and is of the simple plan and single orthostat walling type. Interior measures 3m in diameter and is defined by a 1.4m wide wall standing up to 1.1m high. Excavated by the dartmoor exploration committee in 1905, and produced traces of fire all over the floor, some rubbers, several dozen cooking stones and a piece of flint (mpp).
