Name:Hut circle 63, Watern Oke settlement

Summary

One of a settlement at watern oak. Hut 63; diam 3.66m. A very good specimen but much filled in with fallen stones. Entrance at south. Some cooking stones, and piles of spar and rubbers found (anderson). Vis=estimated -/-/1992 (gerrard) hut circle terraced into the hillslope. Straight porch, single orthostat and coursed walling type. Interior measures 4.5m in diam and is defined by a 1.6m wide wall standing up to 0.9m high. Doorway partly blocked, faces s and has a 1.2m long straight porch connected to the e side of the passage. The s part of the structure is filled with loose rubble. Excavations by the dartmoor exploration committee in 1905 recovered some cooking stones, pieces of spar and rubbers (mpp).

One of a settlement at watern oak. Hut 63; diam 3.66m. A very good specimen but much filled in with fallen stones. Entrance at south.
