Full description
Anderson, I. K., 1906, 11th Report of the Dartmoor Exploration Committee, 112, Hut 72 (Article in Serial). SDV337055.
One of a group of hut circles at Watern Oke. Hut 72; fair specimen, external diameter 17th feet (5.18m), internal 11 feet (3.35m). Some large stones like steps, suggested entrance at south-south-east. Large number of cooking and rubber stones found.

Visited in 1993. Hut circle terraced into the hillslope. Simple plan, single orthostat and coursed walling type. Interior measures 4.2 metres long by 3 metres wide and is defined by a 1.1 metres wide wall standing up to 0.8 metres high. The doorway faces south-south-east and is largely blocked with rubble. Excavations by the Dartmoor Exploration Committee in 1905, revealed a paved floor opposite the doorway and a considerable number of rubbing and cooking stones.

This monument includes ten stone hut circles situated on a gentle south facing slope overlooking the River Tavy and forming part of the large unenclosed stone hut circle settlement at Watern Oke.
