Name:Hut circle 73, Watern Oke settlement

Summary

One of a group of hut circles at watern oak. Hut 73; 3.66m by 2.13m. Oval and a large nearly square stone paving filled the hut. Cooking stones found. No entrance (anderson). Vis=estimated -/-/1993 (gerrard) hut circle terraced into the hillslope. Simple plan, single orthostat and coursed walling type. Interior measures 4.2m long by 3m wide and is defined by a 1.1m wide wall standing up to 0.8m high. The doorway faces sse and is largely blocked with rubble. Excavations by the dartmoor exploration committee in 1905, revealed a paved floor opposite the doorway and a considerable number of rubbing and cooking stones (mpp).
