Former clay pits of possible post-medieval to 19th century date are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1948 onwards, and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the southwest of Dennington, Yarcombe. Three ‘Old Clay Pits’ are labelled and depicted here on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map and so have not been transcribed during this survey. An additional earthwork not visible on this map was, however, recorded. This earthwork is semi-circular in shape and measures approximately 53m in length by 42m in width.
