Full description

Tyler, F. C., 1932 - 1933, Stones on Dartmoor., 114-5 Plate (Article in Serial). SDV233336.

Stone 1.35m high. It is not dressed stone and is possibly an older stone re-used.

Masson Phillips, E. N., 1943, Notes on Some Old Roadside Stones in South West Devon, 155 (Article in Serial). SDV148816.

Milestone, stood on a bank of grass on the eastern side of the road from Pennycomequick up to Whitchurch Down, near where a lane branches off to Moortown. There is an inscription which is set diagonally: '13/miles/to/Plymo'.

Rough granite milestone erected by the Tavistock Turnpike Trust c1832 on the east side of the road near Pennycomequick. The 104cm tall stone is inscribed '13/Miles/To/Plymo'. The worn stone was difficult to read with chips to the edges at the time of the survey in 2003.
