Full description

Barn approx 8m to east of Whilborough Farmhouse. Probably circa late C18. Limestone rubble walls with hipped tarred slate roof which projects in pentice over first floor loading door. Shippons on ground floor and storage above. 2 storeys. Originally had 4 wide regularly spaced arched openings to ground floor but ones to left and right of centre are now blocked. At left hand end is narrowed doorway. On first floor at centre is wide loading doorway. This building forms part of a traditional farm complex.

To the east of the farmhouse is a barn of the bank barn type but which is built on level ground so that the upper floor can not be reached from a higher ground level. It is in effect a first floor barn with animal housing on the ground floor an a corn barn on the first floor. It has full height, traditional double doors in the centre of the first floor. It possibly predates the large bank barn to the north of the farmhouse but is unlikely to be much eariler than 1800 in date. The roof structure is of the king post and strut type as is found in the other buildings and it is likely, therefore, that it was re-roofed at the same time as they were built.
On the west side of the building is a lean-to animal house supported on three limestone rubble pillars with a corrugated iron roof.
