A sand pit of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the south of Padbrook. The sub-oval shaped pit is partly depicted as a Sand Pit on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s and measures approximately 37m in length by 25m in width. It remains visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs up until 1989, although by 1999 has been completely levelled and the site developed into Padbrook Park Golf Centre.
